Transience by Turmoil started as an original acrylic painting on reclaimed material by Central Michigan artist Zach Maatman. A fly, rendered large and in remarkable detail, is wrapped in baroque scrollwork against a dripping field of chartreuse and teal. Flies live short, restless lives; here a creature most people swat away is given the attention and ornament of a portrait. The original has already found a home.
