Prophet of Periodicity

Prophet of Periodicity started as an original acrylic painting on reclaimed material by Central Michigan artist Zach Maatman. A dark, rounded beetle carved with silver filigree sits over a band of folk-inspired pattern and a vivid green ground, on reclaimed material whose seams still show through. The beetle stands as the prophet of nature’s cycles: the tides, seasons, and insects that return on schedule. The original has already found a home.
