The Crayfish started as an original acrylic painting on reclaimed material by Central Michigan artist Zach Maatman. Painted nearly four feet across, the crayfish reaches forward with oversized claws, its body a study in teal and seafoam acanthus over a sunlit yellow ground and a bold blue geometric ring. A familiar sight in Michigan’s creeks and lakes, easy to overlook under a rock, it becomes a centerpiece here. The original has already found a home.
