The Moth

The Moth started as an original acrylic painting on reclaimed material by Central Michigan artist Zach Maatman. Pale mushrooms sprout from the moth’s wings and body, and its lower wings dissolve into silver acanthus scrolls, bringing together two of the forest’s quiet workers: the night-flying moth and the fungi that return everything to the soil. The original has already found a home.
